Eddie Shieh 謝宗楷 (pronounced ‘Shi’+’yeah’, not ‘She’) is a Twindad by Day and a Filmmaker at Night.

His screenplay “La Grippe” was shortlisted at the 2015 Sundance Screenwriters Lab (Italy). He was also a nominated finalist to the 2015 NBCUniversal Television Directing Fellowship and 2014 FOX Global Directors Initiative Fellowship programs. Eddie’s short works have won Best Direction, Actor, Actress, Ensemble Cast, Editing and Original Soundtrack with numerous nominations in multiple categories from Academy® Qualifying and international festivals. He sold his first screenplay in 2010 and is a member of the Writer’s Guild of America East.

On occasion he hosts the Breaking Bamboo podcast on emerging Asian-American talent in entertainment and curates the Red Rope Screening and Red Rope Playhouse, a sponsored networking series. In 2008 New York Magazine listed Red Rope® Playhouse as a Top 40 New York Event at #20. Sponsors have included Adidas Classics, Moet Hennessey, Chopin Vodka, 10 Cane Rum, Heineken, Stoli, Svedka, Amstel, as well as Ogilvy & Mather and New York Magazine.

In a previous life, Eddie served as a global advertising agency creative director for mercurial start-ups to the Fortune 500. During the dot-com boom and burst, he was partnered to a Series-A travel portal called, ChinatownNYC.com, later serving in an advisory role to the New York Lower Manhattan Development Council (LMDC/NY) post 9-11 revitalization effort.

Eddie is a native New Yorker and fluent in English, conversant in Mandarin, some Portuñol (Portuguese and Spanish) and learning German and Danish.

Other useless facts: platinum blond for two years, trampled by former New York Knicks 250lbs Power-Forward Anthony Mason (RIP), won a fist-pumping volley over John McEnroe, placed Third in the New York Queens Borough Eighth Grade Science Fair and predicts weather with his surgically repaired joints – no app yet.
